SUPPLY CHAIN CERTIFICATION STANDARD (SCCS) FOR THE ROUNDTABLE ON SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (RSPO)

SUPPLY CHAIN CERTIFICATION STANDARD (SCCS) FOR THE ROUNDTABLE ON SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (RSPO)

Sustainable palm oil is produced to a certifiable standard as defined by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The RSPO is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on certified sustainable oil palm products. The oil palm products may go through many production and logistical stages between the oil palm plantations to end product. The General Chain Standard shall apply to any organization throughout the supply chain that takes legal ownership and physically handles RSPO Certified Sustainable oil palm products at a location under the control of the organization including outsourced contractors. After the end-product manufacturer, there is no further requirement for certification.

Any certified oil palm product can be traded through one of four supply chain models that are approved by RSPO:

  • Identity preserved

  • Segregated

  • Mass balance

  • Book and Claim

Traders and distributors require a license obtained from RSPO Secretariat to sell RSPO certified products but do not themselves require certification. When selling RSPO certified products, a licensed trader and/or distributor must pass on the certification number of the product manufacturer and the applicable supply chain model.

Supply Chain Model

The site can only use the same supply chain model as its supplier or go to a less strict system. The site can use one or a combination of supply chain models as audited and certified by the CB. The site shall have written procedures and/or work instructions or equivalent to ensure the implementation of all elements of the applicable supply chain model specified.

There have 7 modular requirements that set out the differing requirements which apply for each of the different supply chain models applicable to organizations in the supply chain.

  2. Segregated

  3. Mass Balance

  4. CPO Mills: Identity Preserved

  5. CPO Mills: Mass Balance

  6. Multi-site Certification

  7. Supply Chain Group

Certification

The supply chain certification audit only covers the module(s) that the organization has implemented. The module(s) which have been covered by the audit shall be indicated on the supply chain certificate. The selected module(s) must be applied in addition to the General Chain of Custody Requirements for the Supply Chain.

Why Prinsip Mahir?

Prinsip Mahir can assist in developing written procedures in order for the organization to conduct an annual internal audit in confirming to the requirements of the RSPO Supply Chain Certification Standard for the Module G - Supply Chain Group Certification. This module offers an option for RSPO Supply Chain Certification whereby the direct costs of certification are shared between the eligible members of a group. We will ensure that the organization had the effective implementation of the standard requirements and maintaining the internal audit records and reports before the certification audit session.
